The Waiting Place

Last Thursday night was a blast and thanks to everyone who came out for Ivan's drunken birthday (very drunken birthday)!  Here are some pics from the evening.  If you want to see more, just click here .

So, as you may or may not yet know, we have finally decided on a title for our debut album.  It's called 'The Waiting Place'.  The title comes from our song of the same name which was titled after a critical part of the Dr. Seuss book Oh, The Places You'll Go.  This book was the last he wrote before he passed away, and it was the only book he wrote that dealt with serious subject matter - the complexities of life; in short, he tells readers to be prepared for the ups and downs during your existence on this planet.  There is no perfect life and there is no horrible life. It's all what you make of it.  Take risks, be brave, and do the things you love even if other people laugh at you or judge you for it.  Those who laugh are too afraid to journey into the unknown themselves, and they often end up in the waiting place.  The waiting place is the worst place you can possibly end up in life.  It's the place of no hopes, no dreams and no ambitions.  An emptiness grows within one's soul as time passes.  Many people end up in the waiting place because it's easier and more convenient there.  In fact, every person has probably been there at some point in life, and escaping it is one of the hardest things to do, because the chains of the waiting place are so strong.  But, the determined people find a way to break free.  We're certain every single human being on this planet is capable of accomplishing something great in his/her life.  But nothing  great will ever be accomplished while in the waiting place.  Geez, we never get this deep in our blogs, but we felt we had to explain what inspired our album title.  Talk to you all soon!

Ivan's Birthday concert

Are you coming out to Ivan's birthday celebration?  We sure hope so!  It's this Thursday night, June 23 @ Abbey Pub.  We'll be sharing the stage with friends Matadora, Bad Bad Meow, and Wonderland Honey.  The festivities begin at 8:30pm.  Did you know Abbey Pub recently had a makeover on the new Spike TV show "Bar Rescue"?  We're looking forward to seeing the new Abbey, but we're REALLY looking forward to seeing YOU at the party.

All Ribbed Out

Jam packed festivals full of greasy, messy and porky food really aren't our thing, but we had a fun time at Chicago's Ribfest yesterday.  Ate plain ole' ribs and a few rib sandwiches and still feeling full a day later.

Several people wanted demos after our set and we're sorry to those of you who didn't get one because we were packing up our gear.  We lost you in the sea of pork.  But currently our songs are downloadable from our web site at www.pintoandthebean.com so feel free to grab them from there.

We'll be live on the radio at WLUW 88.7 this Thursday evening, June 16th at 7pm.  You can tune in by clicking here on that date.  Talk to you soon!

Chicago Summer Festivals

It's almost summer and we're super stoked about the festivals going on in Chicago.  We're mostly excited for Do Division Fest and Wicker Park Fest.  Do Division Fest is today and tomorrow and we'll be checking out Chicago's White Mystery and Empires.  Surely we'll hear the sweet sounds of other bands we don't know yet too.  Aside from good music, festivals are a great reason to bring flasks filled with your favorite liquor to get sloshy with...speaking of Festivals, did you know we're performing at Chicago's Ribfest next Sunday afternoon (June 12)?  Come out and eat!  Drink!  Listen!  We'll be taking the south stage at 1pm.
