Our thoughts on 2001: A Space Odyssey

What?  A movie review by Pinto and the Bean?  That movie is over 40 years old and you're musicians, not film snobs!  We know, but we just saw it for the first time this past week...you know how you're sometimes just browsing through Netflix and randomly choose something - well, we put this on, and it really blew us away.  Ivan is quite certain that the Star Wars creators took the majority of their ideas from this, and he is quite the Star Wars fanatic.  Then we got to talking about how Stanley Kubrick was a visionary from another dimension in time.  He was probably an extra terrestrial who came to earth to share his out-of-this-world unique style with the rest of us, which is way cool!

we'd like to sit on one of these
Something swell about '2001: A Space Odyssey' is the minimal use of dialogue in the movie.  It's mostly classical music playing over elegantly painted scenes in outer space.  But really, the movie doesn't need dialogue to work.  We were too mesmerized with Stanley Kubrick's depiction of outer space.  It's amazing to see that quite a few of the technological advances the movie shows us are ones we live with today (like video chatting).  Still, some others haven't been realized yet.

In any case, we just thought we'd share our two cents on the movie.  And on the music side of things, we're releasing a new music video soooooon!  And we've got more shows lined up - we'll keep you posted with all that jazz.
